Arts in Prisons
Artlink Central has been engaged with work in restorative justice and prisons for twelve years. The organisation has predominantly worked in two prisons, with a focus initially on restorative justice, later moving toward transition to learning. Some of the work has focussed on women, often on engaging young offenders.
The programme has developed significantly with support from the Robertson Trust and Lankelly Chase Trust to offering a range of intensive week-long programmes in different art form areas which have been very successful in terms of attendance and engagement.
A recent evaluation was undertaken by a criminologist and a researcher to look at the impact of the Artlink programme.
